Happy Bastille Day!

Viva Les Mis-heads! I'm kind of so-so on the French government, but Hoorah for the French people and their history! V. Hugo-- you go!

I almost went to a Bastille Day celebration and dinner at a terrific little family owned restaurant but ended up seeing T3 instead (*rrrrnk* I lose!). Ages ago I was actually in Paris on Bastille day with a bunch of other students and it really is quite the celebration: very much in spirit like our Fourth of July. I remember the day well because our teacher/advisor, after lecturing us about pickpockets, got his wallet picked. Not only that, but the thief actually took all his cash and then put the wallet -back- into his pocket! French thieves are slick -and- considerate!

When I was in Paris it was Easter ( that's an amazing holiday to see at Notre Dame!!!! ). As for pick-pockets, I saw gypsy children ripping off these poor Japanese tourists. One of the gypsy children came over to my friend Adam and I ( Adam has a really sharp mouth and sometimes doesn't think before he talks ) and when the girl made the "gimme gimme gimme" finger dance for hand-outs, Adam said, "I'll give you a franc if you kiss my ass". Very much to my amusement, I got to watch her put a curse on him. LOL.

He put the wallet back I guess... so the victim could re-fill it!! ;D
